Volunteer Recognition Gala

(April) Volunteers are an essential resource for most nonprofits and membership organizations, which is why volunteer appreciation is important. There are legions of volunteers throughout the Carson Valley and we want to CELEBRATE ours! Includes an award for the volunteer of the year and more.

Sweep the Town

(April or May) Our Sweep the Town community cleanup brings volunteers together to clean, repair, and improve public spaces or other areas (such as vacant lots or abandoned properties) that have been neglected, vandalized, or misused. Cleanup projects can involve all kinds of public spaces—parks, empty lots, schools, trails, sidewalks, and even parking lots, to name just a few. Occasionally we have special painting and planting projects too.

Garden Open House & Plant Faire

(May) Mother Nature always keeps us on our toes, alternating back and forth between Spring and Winter. But statistics show that gardeners should be good to go by May at the latest. To celebrate the end of winter, come to the Open House and Plant Faire at Heritage Park Gardens. Kids are invited to join in on the activities in the Children’s Garden sand there will be a Scavenger Hunt. Or you can walk the labyrinth, play chess or checkers or choose some plants for your home gardens. A variety of other plants will be available along with some “Garden Goodies” to enhance your garden décor.

Third Thursday Wine Walk

(May-September) The purpose of these wine walks is to invite people to the Main Street District to see what downtown has to offer. Over 50 businesses participate each year in the five wine walks, creating a wonderful opportunity to explore the many unique, locally owned businesses that are showcased. Some folks that join us don’t register as wine walkers – they come to walk the streets while visiting with friends and neighbors, or to take advantage of the shops staying open late and make some special purchases.
